two deep runs today

So I know its nothing big, but today i'm definitely gonna be taking a mental/moral victory from this. Only played 3 tournaments at once and these two I ended up running really deep in. I finished 60th in the $42k (where I donked-called 99 to KK) and finished 16th in the $33k where my KK ran into AA (COOOOOOOOLLLERRR!) I ended up winning $92.23 and $150.07, respectively. No by no means is this LIFE-changing cash, or even day changing cash (if there is such a thing), but I am going to take this as a victory for me because while still working full time (albeit only 3-4 days/week) I only get to seriously play MTTs/ring/SNGs maybe once/twice a week. I have other priorities I attended to, like my loving/supportive girlfriend and family. So to play as well as I did, with the limited amount of time I do, I feel like i'm starting to become a more mentally stronger MTT player. I owe a lot of that to the pokerfives forums and a special thanks to ynd! (Kenny Shih) who is always there to help me plug my leaks even if he is 18-tabling it. I feel very strong about my play, and hopefully this will result is higher and stronger finishes.

Hahaha...well, I haven't exactly been the greatest model at keeping up with this whole blog thing. Poker has been pretty stagnant for me since I took down a turbo $11 on FTP for $4300 on 2/1/10. It was pretty tight cause my boss gave me the night off, was able to go to my gf's work and surprise her for our 3 year anniversary. Then I came home, was super bored, played this tourney and then BAM!!! This was my 3rd FT in 7 days, playing actually only 10 tourneys in that 7 days d/t work. So it really felt like it was coming. HAHA

Came up 2k in Vegas in February as well, but not running to well online as of now. I keep getting my money in good, losing to 3 outers. BLAH BLAH BLAH. I also have a lot of leaks in my cash game that needs improvement. For now I'm just gonna grind out sngs and small MTTs to build the BR again. I am trying to be less results oriented and have faith in my play. I know I'm good enough to play this game, I just need to put in the time and quantity of games to minimize variance kicking me in the ass.

BTW, props to ynd! for taking down 36k this sunday! You are ridiculous bro! Very proud of you!

new beginnings.

i've decided to start this blog to give myself not only an outlet, but a way to refocus myself on the goals that i have decided to set for myself in terms of poker. seeing good friends of mine like mad-shoe-ter and ariolis30 strive on stars and ftp has given me a new dedication for what i'm trying to accomplish as a poker player. hopefully with some positive thinking, diligence, and guidance from my peers, i too will be as successful as they have been. this is my dedication to commitment!
